Isaiah 53 says
"He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows...
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed."
He was crushed and died a horrible death, taking our sins upon himself, even though he was without sin. He was dead and buried. But on the third day, he rose, defying death!
We serve a living God!
